The Guild of the Blessed St Edmund have been in existence for some 24 years. We bring the medieval life and times alive with living history displays which show what it would have been like to have lived in that era.
We show the different types of clothing that would have been worn by different tiers of society and the laws relating to what you could and could not wear. We also give talks and demonstrations on armour, dressing a knight ready for battle, archery and combat techniques. We have a large selection of weaponry used at the time. We actively encourage youngsters to have a hands on experience with armour and weapons. This has to be under strict supervision because of the nature of the weapons. They also have the opportunity to be trained in the use of pole arms, being issued with a certificate on completion.
The group also have a tented encampment which shows how people would have travelled, how food would be caught and cooked, including spices, how they were used and how and where they were imported from.
Questions are always welcomed and our members have built up over the years a vast store of knowledge on life at that time.
We are also able to portray life in the Tudor era and also now the Regency period with food they would have had, life at sea and the advancement of arms and armaments. Also the dances that they would have performed in the time of Jane Austen
We are based in the West Midlands area
